First Communion Skipping Stone Workshop and Celebration - Spring 2025

First Communion Skipping Stone Workshop and Celebration - Spring 2025

The First Communion Workshop is offered to prepare for a child's first experience of Holy Communion. We invite families to join this workshop when a child is in First Grade or older. This is a family's decision on when to participate as they see their child's readiness to learn more about Communion. It is one of our six Skipping Stones that celebrate moments in a child's faith!

Families can choose to attend ONE of the following workshop options:
Registration will close on the Wednesday before the workshops in order to prepare all supplies
- Saturday, April 5, 9-10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall (Sanctuary Building)

- Thursday, April 10, 6-7 p.m. online via Zoom

During the workshop, children learn what it means to REMEMBER, RECEIVE, and SHARE in the meal of Holy Communion – exploring what Communion is, what makes it special, how we practice receiving it, and what it means to live out our faith in the world. Children receive an engraved skipping stone at our workshop and a handmade ceramic chalice as part of the celebration in worship, a gift from St. Andrew’s.
Children attend the workshop with at least one parent/guardian or partner adult. Pre-registration is required.

The celebration will be during the Maundy Thursday evening worship service on Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. Families are encouraged to invite family to join their child for this celebration. Guests may include Godparents, grandparents, and other extended family. You will be asked approximate number attending the celebration during the registration, and will be confirmed during the workshop.

We look forward to having you join us for this Skipping Stone event!
